Scholarships to Study in Canada: The Guide for Moroccan Students (2025-2026)
Quebec-Morocco exemptions, university excellence grants, and federal funding: an overview of financial support available to Moroccan students for their studies in Canada, with data confirmed for 2025-2026.

Tuition fees in Canada for international students can seem high at first glance. However, several schemes make it possible to significantly reduce the cost of study: government exemptions, university excellence scholarships, and federal aid programmes. This guide presents the main options available for Moroccan students, with information confirmed for 2025-2026. Amounts and conditions for 2026-2027 should be verified when the next campaigns open.
Quebec-Morocco Tuition Exemptions
The government of Quebec and the Moroccan government have entered into an agreement allowing selected Moroccan students to benefit from an exemption from the additional tuition fees imposed on non-Quebec students. For the fall 2026 session, 51 exemption scholarships were awarded under this framework. Applications are submitted through the mabourse.enssup.gov.ma portal, managed by Morocco's Ministry of Higher Education.
University Excellence Scholarships
Several Canadian universities offer their own scholarship programmes for international undergraduate students, awarded directly upon admission based on academic excellence. These scholarships generally do not require a separate application.
- Université Laurentienne (Sudbury, Ontario): excellence scholarships of up to 40,000 CAD (average 80–89.9%) or 60,000 CAD (average 90–100%), over 4 years, subject to renewal conditions — 2025-2026 data
- University of Ottawa: tuition exemption scholarship for international Francophone students, awarded automatically upon admission — check current conditions on the university website
- Université de Montréal (UdeM): exemption scholarship programme based on level and academic excellence (levels A and B), deducted directly from tuition
- Polytechnique Montréal, Université Laval, HEC Montréal: various entrance and excellence scholarships — conditions to verify directly with each institution
Quebec Trades of the Future Scholarships
This Quebec programme targets international students wishing to enter vocational or technical training in fields in demand on the Quebec labour market. For the 2026-2027 cycle, assistance can reach 26,600 CAD, along with an exemption from additional tuition fees. No application fee is required. This programme does not cover university programmes (bachelor's, master's).
Study in Canada Scholarships (SCS)
The federal Study in Canada Scholarships programme, managed by Global Affairs Canada, funds short-term student mobility (exchanges, research internships) at Canadian institutions. Morocco is among the eligible countries. This programme does not fund a complete degree programme: it is aimed at students already enrolled at a partner institution wishing to study in Canada for a period. The delivery model is under review for the 2026-2027 cycle.
The Vanier Scholarship for Doctoral Studies
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships programme is aimed at very high-achieving doctoral candidates. It can fund up to 50,000 CAD per year for three years. Selection is extremely competitive and focuses on academic excellence, leadership, and research potential. Applications are made through participating Canadian universities.
